blah

I have had every intention of posting these past two day but I have been completely out of it. Last night I even knew what I wanted to write but I just forgot to do it. I think this long week at work has finally taken it's toll. This morning I was stuck in traffic on The Tappan Zee bridge and got to work about a half an hour late. That was pretty awesome considering I get to work a short day today anyway. However, I am so tired that sitting in my car for an extra 30 minutes did not help me get out of the fog.

Over the past few days I have screwed up several ticket sales (things I really do know how to do), printed tickets when I wasn't supposed to, and capped it all off this morning by answering the phone and saying, "Box office, can you help me?" Now, that's not the first time I have done that but I didn't realize I had said it until my co-worker said something. I think it speaks volumes about how I really feel about my job.

Anyway last night I had planned on talking all about how this theater sent out a brochure with a whole bunch of mistakes on it. They were bad ones, like wrong dates and prices. However, that no longer fills me with enough rage to write about it. Instead I would like to tell you another story. Beginning on October 14 we are showing a play called "Saving Aimee" with the book and music by Kathie Lee Gifford. That's correct, THE Kathie Lee gifford. I have yet to hear if Regis will be in attendance. The show was originally called "Hurricane Aimee" but Kathie thought it would be best to change it after the events of Hurricane Katrina. So, for a while it was just called "Aimee" and now it's "Saving Aimee". Personally I like to call it "Saving Private Aimee" or "Chasing Aimee." While I am sensitive to the victims of the hurricane I thought a title change was so stupid I can't even put it into words.

There is this famous quote by Laurel Thatcher Ulrich that states, "Well behaved women rarely make history." Now I am almost 100% positive that the wording is correct. If it's not then it is pretty damn close. Well, someone involved in "Saving Private Aimee" saw it on a bumper sticker and decided to put it on the poster and all the flyers for the show. However, all the posters and flyers read "Women who behave don't make history." So, not only does the quote sound dumb, but it kind of makes it sound inappropriate. Perhaps even like the show has something to do with a stripper or burlesque dancer.

Awesome.

"Box office, can you help me?" I laughed until I cried.

Your astute mind is ever-sharp, dear Stephanie. Your quote is correct. It is also, I believe, one which you sister had on her fridge in the city of flowered hair.
